Sledding!

This is from the weekend where it snowed about a month ago. Some kids in our neighborhood invited us up the hill where they said a lot of kids were sledding. Of course, thinking back to our days of sledding, we though, hmmm...probably not for 2 year olds. But then we ventured up the hill and saw the hill and other small kids. Not a bad idea after all. The girls loved it!

Becoming Big Girls

We've picked back up on the potty training. They're almost three...it's time! I have constantly blamed myself for the fact that they're not potty trained by now because I haven't put forth the time and effort necessary to get this done. After all, it is a "learned" skill and they don't call it potty training for nothin'. HOWEVER...I have also read a lot about potty training, and all these articles and books say the same thing about "signs" when they're ready. While my kids exhibit a few of the signs here and there, I don't think they show all the signs of readiness. Nicole, for example, will actually tell you, "NO, don't want to wear panties. Want to wear a diaper." Hmmmm....not the best sign of readiness. But, she does like her panties and likes the designs on them, so that's plus.

So, if I had put forth the time and effort before, I may not have succeeded. (Takes a bit of the guilt away. Ha!) At this point though, I don't care anymore...it's time. And they do exhibit some of the readiness signs, so we're going for it.

Anyway, we got started this weekend. Nicole stumbled upon some luck and got a treat on Sunday. Then, our new nanny had 2 success stories on Monday (both Nicole), and I got lucky with Nicole when I got home from work on Monday. Then, nothing on Tuesday. So, I do think "lucky" is still the right word even though Nicole had three successes all in the same day. It's sad for Kaitlyn though...more for me than it is for her. She gets excited for Nicole which is nice, but I'm sure she's picking up on the fact that she's not getting any M&Ms (our designated potty treat). I really, really, really want her to stumble into some luck soon. Poor thing. :-(

And the other BIG GIRL news is that we went to big girl beds last night!!! Yippie! Our girls have been able to climb in and out of their cribs for MONTHS now. They can even go from one crib to the other without touching the floor!!! They truly are little monkeys! Most mothers would be nervous and have ditched the crib the instant their child figured out how to get out of the crib for fear of falling. Not me (maybe I was worried at first, but we couldn't spring into action quick enough and by the time we were able to do something about the cribs, they were PROS at it). So, we've let it continue, and I actually think they enjoy climbing in and out. I took a video of it last night since that will be the last time, and I'll post that soon. But they have shown interest in our bed and laying under the covers, etc, so we wanted to go ahead and move to the big girl beds.

And you might think that two transitions at once is too much, but I don't really think the bed is going to be much of a transition. They already slept with a pillow in their cribs, and we put blankets on them every night. And, they like laying in our bed, so I think it's going to be OK. Not one peep last night either. It was as if we laid them down like any other night.

Wish us luck...our girls are growing up.

Not to Be Rude, But...

This blog was established for our friends and family to have the opportunity to see and hear about my twins' lives.

I don't really need or want people to comment in Spanish or Japanese. I can't read those languages and that is not what this blog is about. And I definitely don't need someone posting a comment about viagra on my sweet blog about my 2 1/2 year old twins. If you're blogspotting for networking or to sell something, please refrain from commenting. I don't want to hear it.

Now, if you've found my blog from somewhere else and are truly interested and think my girls are cute (who wouldn't), feel free to let me know. Sweet comments are always welcome.

But the overall purpose of this blog is not, never has been, and never will be to network. It's a journal of my kids' lives. I don't know why after 3 years I'm finally getting these random comments, but that's not what this is about. Someone has obviously linked my blog from somewhere else. If you have stumbled upon my blog, can you let me know from where so I can ask that blogger to take my link down?

Thanks.
