Memorial Day Photos

We had two patriotic outfits for the babies. One we were given as a gift last summer, but it was too big then. I don't know that I'd necessarily say that it was too small this summer (it is a 0-3), but the style is forgiving. The flaw was not in the sizing but the design. It's a top with elastic at the top, so it kept sliding down (and the shoulder straps did absolutely nothing as you will see in the photos - and they couldn't be re-tied...they're sewn to that length). And it's paired with some cute white eyelit bloomers. Mike thought they should both be standing on a street corner, so we changed outfits.
Here are photos of their other patriotic outfits for the holiday. Much better, huh? Not that the others weren't super cute (in my opinion)...just not practical. We'll break these out again for the 4th of July (and in between then and now I'm sure).
Oh, on another note, the girls begin Little Gym today. We're very excited. It's just a movement and play class I suppose with music. As kids get older, it turns more toward a gymnastics feel. We did a demo class two weeks ago and really enjoyed it, so we signed up for summer sememster. It's at 12:15 every Wed, so Mike and I are going to tag team our lunch hours, and Joanna will be there the whole time so we've got 2 adults each week. We did a demo of not only Little Gym but two other places, and what we found with twins that can't walk yet is that you really do need 2 parents/supervisors. Once they can walk, I'm sure that won't be the case, but for now, it's good that Mike and I can both show up on our lunch hours to help and see the girls.

Twins

Just reflecting for a minute and thought I'd share. It's been 11+ months, or should I say, it's just less than one month until Mike and I are the parents of two ONE year olds. WOW! They were so tiny when they were born, and now, they've not only caught up, but Nicole is on the larger side for her age. They both crawl now, and they pull up, and they're eating several people foods (still plenty of baby foods, but we're making the move). Kaitlyn says DaDa, and Nicole is on the verge of a real word any day now. She babbles babababa all the time now.

Anyway, what I reflect on the most is that we have twins. You all probably think that sounds crazy. Mike and I have had 11 months with them to get used to the idea, not to mention the 7 months we were pregnant with the knowledge that it was twins. However, you'd be surprised. There are still many days when we look at each other and say, "I can't believe we have twins." I wonder if/when the idea will finally sink in. :-) They're such a blessing, and we can't imagine life without them, but it's still a bit new to us (as is parenthood in general). No one in our circle of friends has twins. No one in our family has twins. It's just unique, and we're still getting used to it (so to speak).

Sesame Street

Kaitlyn and Nicole are 11 months old today!!!! So, you know what that means? Mommy only has one more month until the big FIRST BIRTHDAY PARTY! I've had it planned in my head for a long while. Now I just have to execute. First step...invitations. I wanted to do a photo invitation, and since the party will be a Sesame Street theme, here are a few photos I took for the invitation.

Enjoy!

Mother's Day

First, here are some photos from a few days ago. The "Will Cry for Food" shirt fits Nicole perfectly. I had to buy it when I saw it. :-)

Next, here are some shots from Mother's Day yesterday. We had a very nice day. (I think Mike has his sights on Father's Day because he did a great job.) I got breakfast in bed, and he made us lunch and dinner. I also got a fun gift for the babies. He bought a picture frame where you stamp their hands and feet and put a photo at the bottom. He found a frame for twins too which was great. It was extremely funny to do this at 10 1/2 months old though...their hands and feet were enormous on this frame. :-) It's cute!!!

We also went down to the Silver Comet Trail for a nice walk. And I was able to sneak off while the babies were napping to get my hair cut. A very good first Mother's Day indeed.

We didn't mean to leave Daisy out...she just wouldn't pose individually.

What a Weekend! Swimming Lessons and the Zoo

We had our first swimming lesson on Saturday morning. The babies enjoyed it. We think they really liked the water (we weren't surprised given how much splashing goes on at bath time). They did well, and we're looking forward to it again next weekend.

Kaitlyn in on the left in the swimming pictures and Nicole is on the right.

Then, on Sunday we went to the zoo. I don't know that the babies were aware of the animals at all, but it was still a good time. I think people watching is just as interesting to them as animal watching.
