Photo Shoot

We hadn't had the girls two year portraits made yet. I was waiting until we got haircuts (yeah, see previous post) and until we were up at the lake again. I think I had this idea that a photographer in Young Harris would be cheaper than in Atlanta, so I asked my mom if any of her friends had recommendations. Sure enough, they did. I was also thinking that Lake Chatuge in the background would be really pretty. Well, it turns out I was wrong on both points...not that the lake wouldn't make an awesome background, but that we didn't have our photos taken at the lake.
We went, at the photographer's suggestion, to Crane Creek Vineyard in the area. It was beautiful. I think part of me still wishes we had used a lake site. Oh well, next time.
And as for the cost...not so much. I had searched numerous photographers in Atlanta, and I do mean numerous. I also had considered that if I was going to spend the money to do this right that we would have had our photos made in Hilton Head in June. I called numerous photographers there too. All in all, if you want professional photos and want some one good, it's gonna cost you. I thought a small town would help, and maybe it did, but not to the extent I was hoping.
Anyway, while they were taking their photos, I was walking behind with our camera. We don't have the professional proofs yet (hopefully later this week), but in the meantime, enjoy the photos I took.
Oh, and Mike told me after that he thought it was so funny that we hired this lady to take pictures and I'm standing behind her with my camera. Probably right. However, I have a feeling that when we see her photos compared to mine that we'll understand why we hired her. I have to say, though, I don't think my photos are that bad. Can you imagine how much better hers will be? I'm so excited to see them.

First Haircut

Last Tuesday, we took the girls for their first haircuts. I had been saying that I was going to do that for a few months now, and it always seemed like something else was a priority. So, these haircuts were over due, but we finally got it done. Kaitlyn went first. We only cut about 1 or 1 1/2 inches off the bottom for her just to even it up and get rid of the split ends.

All done. Look at my beautiful new hair!!! Still long and thick, but shaped up.

Next was Nicole. We cut more off the bottom of hers, maybe 3 inches? The hair that frames her face, for some reason, has always been growing slower. So, after 2 years, it's sad to say, but she pretty much had a mullet going on. So, we cut more off at the bottom to help with that.

All done! Her hair is a big improvement. It looks great.

Grandma's Visit

Grandma was up from Florida last week, and the girls absolutely loved her attention! They would make sure Grandma was always watching. It was so nice to see how much they enjoy her, and vice versa. On Saturday morning, we went to Six Flags and on Sunday morning, we went to White Water. We only have photos from Six Flags. White Water isn't the most camera friendly place. :-) Enjoy!

Now, normally, it's your two 2 year olds that ruin photos because they can't sit still or they won't look at the camera, but I'd say on this day, it was Daddy that was having a bad day. :-) Fooling with his glasses and closing his eyes. Whoops....

Getting ready to ride the truck convoy in Looney Tunes Land. They actually sat together in the front of the truck together. That was a first. Normally they like to each be paired with an adult. I think my girls are growing up!

OK, now for this one, I'd say Nicole isn't making the most glamourous face. :-) (I think she was in the middle of a cough. They both just got over a summer cold.) They were on the Thomas the Train ride with Uncle Steve, Amber and Grandma.

And I have other random photos at the house from Grandma's visit. Look for those later.

A Birthday Filled Weekend

This weekend, Mike went hiking, and of course, we had two birthday invitations for Saturday. I didn't want the girls to miss out on the parties, so I took them myself. We had a great time at both parties.

Here are photos from Grace's 1st birthday party!

And we have so many cute dresses that never get worn because we don't often have nice places to go, so I went ahead and put them in a new outfit for our next party. Why not? They had a nap in between parties anyway, so a new outfit was no trouble.
So, here we are in the evening at Lily's party.
