1 Year Photos

Be sure to check out the next post too for the birthday party.

Here are photos from Portrait Innovations for their one year pictures.

The Party

It was a success. I thank everyone who came and was part of Kaitlyn and Nicole's special day! :-) I think everyone had a good time, and I think my surprise went over well. Surprise you ask??? Yes! Since it was a Sesame Street party, I hired an Elmo to come and make and appearance. It was fun.

The only bad part....I tried to use a new setting on my camera that I hadn't used before. NOT a good time to have tried to experiment with my camera. I'd say about 90% of the Elmo photos that I took are blurry, and not just the kind of blurry that you can overlook. Believe me, I'm _____. Anyway, I've talked to others who took photos, so I've got those coming to me. (If I haven't asked you yet and you took pictures, can you let me know? I really can't remember who had cameras and who didn't.) I don't know how they look and what they got photos of though, but anything is better than nothing. I'm trying not to be too upset until I see these other photos. I figure there must be a few good ones in there.

My advice for anyone with a special occassion coming up....go with the tried and true. Don't try something new on such an important day. :-( I'm sure it will all work out when I get these other photos. In the meantime, here are some that I took with my 'tried and true' setting as well as a few of the blurry ones that weren't too bad. (After uploading them now and seeing them on a larger scale, they really are that bad...man, this is upsetting.)

Our Elmo cake...cute, huh? Sesame Street is copyrighted, of course. Publix only has permission for a few designs, but I wanted Elmo. I ordered just a plain red cake, and I added the eyes, nose and mouth. Clever, huh?

Here comes Elmo....
And the blurry photos begin... (and these were the LESS blurry ones if you can believe that)

At some point, THANK GOODNESS, I got my senses back and flipped the camera back to the setting I know how to use, so at least I have good photos of them eating cake. It's only the Elmo photos (which was supposed to be the highlight of the party) that stink. I guess that's just how life works! :-(

Nicole was very timid with the cake and didn't really eat it at all. Kaitlyn dove in as you will see.

The Joy of Twins Is....

that you get to do everything twice!!! That includes the good with the not-so-good with the mundane routine tasks.

Today's post is all about the GOOD!!!

Kaitlyn took about 4-5 steps yesterday!!!!!!!!!!!!! After we got Nicole to do it on Monday, I wanted to work really hard with both of them to see if Nicole could get better and if Kaitlyn could do it at all. And they both came through. Nicole seems to be getting steadier on her feet, and Kaitlyn took several small steps in a row!

The Barbree Twins are on their feet and on the move!!!

As a bonus to the post, I've scanned a copy of their birthday invitation so you all can see how cute it turned out. It opens just like a card, and on the inside are the details for the party. Cute, cute, cute!!!!

Walking????

First, let me apologize for not posting in a while. I'm usually not this bad...and what's worse is that I actually have pictures to share. Cousin Blake got baptized at the beginning of June, and we have photos from that (all dressed up for the church nursery). And (I know I'm a big dork) we also have photos of them playing in the nursery...it was their first nursery experience. :-)

Anyway, now on to the big news. Kaitlyn took her first step last Saturday (the 7th). She was just a bit too far from the coffee table and wanted something on it, so she stepped toward it. Then, Nicole took her first step on Sunday (Father's Day the 15th). We were just playing on the floor and she stepped toward me.

Lastly, the REALLY BIG NEWS...Nicole took about 5 steps yesterday!!! Since both of them have taken an unassisted step, I've been trying to get them to do it again (to no avail with Kaitlyn). However, persistence with Nicole paid off. We did this several times yesterday too, so I don't think it was a fluke. She'll be walking soon!!! I stood her about two feet in front of me and then held my arms out to get her to walk toward me and she did!!!! GO NICOLE!!! (And go is right, huh? There will be no stopping her now if she can walk.)
